The decision in a minute
The short version
Choose AuthoredUp for an organized LinkedIn publishing practice and a deeper view of post performance. Consider ReplyPilot when the recurring problem is writing a useful response to a post you are already reading. [6][10][1]
Choose ReplyPilot when
For a reply in context
Generate a comment draft where you are reading, then supply your judgment and edit before posting. [1]
Choose AuthoredUp when
For your own content pipeline
An editor, draft library, calendar and post analysis make AuthoredUp the stronger documented fit for regular LinkedIn authors. [6][10]
A carefully written post and a thoughtful comment both start a conversation. They also demand different tools. Preparing next Thursday’s explanation needs a place to draft, organize and review it. Responding to a colleague’s observation needs a clear point before the moment passes.
AuthoredUp is built around creating and analyzing your own LinkedIn content. ReplyPilot’s documented workflow helps draft a comment on a supported post. They can belong in the same routine. Treating one as an inferior version of the other would hide the reason people actually choose it. [6][1]
A practical comparison
Side by side
Compare the documented workflow and the tradeoffs you will feel in daily use.
| What matters | ReplyPilot | AuthoredUp |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Draft a response to a supported post. [1] | Write, organize and analyze your own LinkedIn posts. [6] |
| Writing support | Tone, style and custom instructions. [2] | Formatting, previews, readability and reusable snippets. [6][8] |
| AI availability | AI comment generation in the documented browser flow. [1] | Coauthor AI writing is listed as beta; verify access. [7][16] |
| Scheduling | The compared flow is a reviewed comment draft. [1] | Exposes LinkedIn native scheduling in its editor. [9] |
| Analytics | Assess the usefulness of each edited reply. | Post and period comparisons, medians and breakdowns. [10] |
| Data freshness | The reviewed comment workflow does not describe collecting post analytics. [1] | Mirrors stats as you view posts; values can be stale. [11] |
| Team workflow | Keep the publishing decision with the account owner. [1] | Business adds organizations, collaboration and team analytics. [8] |
| External AI assistants | The compared workflow runs in the comment box. [1] | OAuth MCP gives assistants access to stored stats and drafts. [17] |
Where AuthoredUp makes writing easier
AuthoredUp provides a LinkedIn post editor, previews, saved drafts, snippets and a calendar. A consultant who writes several posts each week can keep half-finished ideas together and return to them without rebuilding the context. That publishing organization is a fair reason to choose it. [6][8]
Formatting needs restraint. AuthoredUp’s help explains that its styled text uses Unicode characters and that screen-reader support varies. Preview the result, but also keep essential information readable in ordinary text. Short paragraphs and clear sentences often do more for a reader than another bold line. [19]
Scheduling follows LinkedIn’s native controls
The scheduling guide says AuthoredUp exposes LinkedIn’s own scheduling feature. Availability depends on LinkedIn enabling it for the account, and not every attachment type is supported. The distinction matters when a post absolutely must go out at a particular time: check the actual account and post format. [9]
For a founder preparing a product lesson, the workflow is familiar: write, preview, choose a time and confirm. ReplyPilot’s comment help is useful later, when readers or peers raise a point worth discussing. A posting calendar and an assisted reply solve separate parts of that working day.
The old “AuthoredUp has no AI” description is outdated
AuthoredUp’s July 21, 2026 release describes Coauthor, an AI writing assistant inside the editor with retrainable voices and personal instructions. It describes beta participation for trial and paid users on a first-come basis. The pricing page still labels Coauthor closed beta and mentions included credits plus paid additions. Confirm access before buying for AI. [16][7]
AuthoredUp also documents an OAuth MCP connection for AI assistants to use stored posts, statistics and draft management, with access that can be revoked. Neither development turns it into a documented replacement for ReplyPilot’s comment-box workflow. The meaningful question remains where you need writing help. [17][1]
Analytics are useful when you understand the collection
AuthoredUp’s analytics guide documents comparisons across periods and individual posts, average and median performance, correlation plots and breakdowns by post type. A writer can use that to investigate whether shorter explanations or a different format invite a more useful response. [10]
The data collection has a tradeoff. AuthoredUp says it mirrors statistics when you view posts on LinkedIn with the extension active; numbers can become stale between visits. Before reporting a trend, revisit the relevant posts and check freshness. A detailed chart still needs a trustworthy collection window. [11]
No LinkedIn cookie does not mean no stored data
AuthoredUp says it does not take LinkedIn cookies or automate connection requests and messages. Its permissions help says extension website access is limited to LinkedIn. These are documented design choices, and they help explain its manual data-mirroring workflow. [13][12][14]
Its privacy policy still describes account, profile and activity data, and sharing with service providers, including partners outside the EU. The displayed policy date is August 12, 2023. Read those terms and ask about newer AI processing if it matters to your team. Review ReplyPilot’s separate policy on its own merits. [15][3]
A realistic way to compare them
Use a real but nonconfidential idea: an implementation mistake your team learned from. In AuthoredUp, prepare the post, check its preview and save a revised draft. Then read three relevant posts by other practitioners. In ReplyPilot, draft a question or counterpoint you would actually stand behind.
Count the edits that matter: unsupported claims, a false implication that you have tried something, overenthusiastic praise, or a question already answered in the post. For publishing, assess whether you return to the draft library and analytics. For comments, assess whether the final response contains a specific contribution. These are separate tests; neither needs an invented growth promise.
The cost of the workflow
Pricing and value
AuthoredUp bills by connected LinkedIn profile; Business has a three-profile minimum.
AuthoredUp lists Individual at $19.95 monthly or $199.50 annually, displayed as $16.63 per month. Business is $14.95 per profile monthly, or $149.50 per profile annually, displayed as $12.46 per month, with at least three profiles. That monthly minimum works out to $44.85 before any checkout adjustments. [7]
Individual includes one personal profile. Its plan guide says company pages administered by that profile do not add charges. Business adds multiple profiles and organizational features. Compare the number of profiles you really need; a per-profile headline is easy to misread as the whole team’s bill. [8]
The trial guide offers 14 days, and pricing says no credit card is required. Use the trial to check extension onboarding, data collection and native scheduling in your own account. Beta access is a separate question. For ReplyPilot, confirm current plans and limits on its live pricing page. [18][7][4]
Common questions
Is AuthoredUp a direct AI-commenting alternative?
Its reviewed official documentation focuses on own-post creation and analysis. That is a different primary job from ReplyPilot’s comment workflow. A missing comment feature in these sources does not prove it could never offer one. [6][1]
Does AuthoredUp have AI writing now?
Yes, it documents Coauthor AI writing, but pricing labels it closed beta. Check eligibility, credits and current availability rather than assuming every new subscriber gets immediate access. [16][7]
Does AuthoredUp schedule posts independently?
Its help says it uses LinkedIn’s native scheduling rather than its own scheduling system. Account eligibility and supported post formats therefore matter. [9]
Why might its statistics differ from today’s LinkedIn counts?
AuthoredUp says it updates mirrored statistics when you view the relevant content with its extension active. Check the collection timing before comparing figures. [11]
